Protecting Pedestrians! YouBike Electric Assist Bikes in Taipei City Will Have Speed Limit

Reported about 1 year ago

According to TVBS News Network on July 6, 2024, at 3:17 a.m., Taipei City's YouBike electric assist bikes will hit the roads in November, but due to their maximum speed of 25 kilometers per hour, scholars are concerned about the threat to pedestrian safety on sidewalks. In response, Taipei City's Transportation Bureau Director Hsieh Ming-hung mentioned that they are currently considering cutting off electric power if the speed exceeds 20 kilometers per hour and will assess sidewalk spaces for potential 'segregated lanes' if space allows.
