Proxy advisory firms Glass Lewis and Institutional Shareholder Services are recommending that Toyota Motor shareholders vote against re-electing Chairman Akio Toyoda at the upcoming annual general meeting in June. This recommendation comes following concerns over governance issues and a drop in approval ratings last year. Glass Lewis and ISS are urging shareholders to vote against Toyoda due to certification irregularities within the company, with Glass Lewis also recommending voting against the board's vice chairman and aligning lobbying activities with the Paris Agreement on climate change.
