In response to the Climate Change Response Law amended and announced in February 2023, which introduced new regulations for carbon fees and strengthened voluntary reduction mechanisms, the guidelines for greenhouse gas emissions inspection and verification have been revised to enhance the independence and fairness of inspection organizations and practitioners, as well as to incorporate ethical norms for inspection organizations. These revisions aim to safeguard the reliability and credibility of domestic inspection and verification data as the foundation for implementing carbon pricing mechanisms in Taiwan and achieving the national goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Key points of this revision include strengthening the fairness and independence of inspection organizations, addressing ethics in training courses for inspectors, and clarifying inspection procedures to improve the quality of inspections.
