On June 19, 2024, at 2:22 AM, due to the vigorous development of convective cloud systems, the Central Weather Bureau issued a heavy rain advisory for 10 counties and cities, including Keelung City, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Taoyuan City, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, and Chiayi County. The bureau urged caution against lightning and strong gusts, as well as landslides, falling rocks, and rapid river rises in mountainous areas. Special thunderstorm alerts were issued for Taipei City and New Taipei City, lasting until 3:15 PM. Additional warnings were issued for the Da Bao River in New Taipei City and the Xia Yun River (Yun Xia Waterfall area) in Taoyuan City, with alerts in place until 4:11 PM, emphasizing the risk of flash floods and advising people to stay away from affected areas. Taiwan's north and northeast regions are expected to experience heavy rain starting Wednesday. Extreme heat is expected, with temperatures possibly exceeding 36 degrees Celsius in the Hualien-Taitung area.
