The preholiday travel before Memorial Day weekend in the US broke the record for the most airline travelers screened at airports, with over 2.9 million travelers screened on Friday, surpassing the previous record set on the Sunday after Thanksgiving last year. The Atlanta airport also had its busiest days ever, with 111,000 passengers screened on Thursday and 109,960 on Friday. US airlines are expecting a record number of passengers this summer, with 271 million travelers estimated to fly between June 1 and August 31.
