Unified Super announced on June 21, 2024, that starting immediately, all 7-ELEVEN stores in Taiwan will gradually implement a policy of turning off sign lights from 3 to 6 in the morning. The first wave will include over 1,500 stores. It is estimated that this initiative will save over 960,000 kWh of electricity per year, reduce about 474,981 kilograms of carbon emissions, equivalent to the carbon sequestration of 3,166 trees in one year. This effort is part of a collaboration with the Wild at Heart Legal Defense Association to raise awareness of climate change and promote energy conservation during the summer peak electricity consumption period.
