Retired Air Force Officers Involved in Espionage Scandal Cleared of Charges After Prosecutor's Failed Appeals

Despite an attempt by prosecutors to seek harsher punishments, the ruling of probation and fines imposed by the lower courts was upheld, concluding the scandal that originated from the fugitive Hong Kong businessman Xie Xichang's recruitment activities in Taiwan. The court highlighted the espionage activities involving various retired military personnel and their acceptance of favors as being in violation of national security laws.
