Reported about 1 year ago
A retired couple has been suspected of insurance fraud for the past 10 years, pretending to fall each month to file claims and purposely creating conflicts while commuting to generate records as proof for claims. With the wife having a background as an insurance salesperson, they manipulated loopholes to scam millions of dollars, even purchasing villas in Hualien. The couple was caught with over NT$50 million in fraudulent claims, owning properties in Hualien used to store illicitly acquired gold bars. To prevent such scams, industry regulators are looking to improve reimbursement regulations by requiring original receipts for claims, aiming to deter individuals from exploiting insurance claims for easy money.
