Return to One-Year Term! Even Conscripts Can be Equipped with Taiwan-made T75K3 Handgun

Reported 8 months ago

Due to the change to a four-month military training term, conscripts previously had limited opportunities to handle handguns, mostly being equipped with rifles. With the term now extended to one year, conscripts are starting to undergo shooting training with Taiwan-made handguns; however, distribution will still be based on individual expertise and characteristics. Recently, the 109th Brigade of the Army conducted live-fire handgun shooting using the Taiwan-made T75K3 handgun with an effective range of 50 meters, weighing only 800 grams. Handguns are now being distributed based on job roles, with individuals like infantrymen, military police, tank crew members, snipers, and special forces having the opportunity to be equipped with handguns, especially in close quarters combat or emergencies. This move aims to enhance individual soldiers' personal weapon capabilities and address air defense pressures. In response to increasing military activities near Taiwan, the National Defense Ministry reported 23 aircraft crossing the median line between June 23 and June 24, with almost all regions surrounding Taiwan, leaving a gap only in the southeast. The Chinese military's jets, helicopters, and drones are approaching closer, prompting vigilant monitoring of activities across the strait by the Taiwanese military.
