Rich Indian Family Members Sentenced in Switzerland for Exploiting Domestic Workers

Reported 8 months ago

Four members of the wealthy Hinduja family residing in Geneva, Switzerland, were sentenced to 4 to 4.5 years in prison by a Swiss court for severely exploiting three domestic workers from India who were paid only 7 pounds a day for working 18 hours, less than 10% of the minimum wage in Switzerland. The court found them guilty of exploitation and illegal employment. This case is not the first involving mistreatment of domestic workers in Geneva, as in 2023, four Filipino domestic workers accused a member of a UN diplomatic mission of withholding their wages.
