The Mainland Affairs Council upgraded the travel warning for Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau to orange, advising Taiwanese to refrain from traveling unless necessary due to threats to personal safety such as illegal detention and interrogation faced by Taiwanese travelers. In response, former Kuomintang legislator Chen Hsueh-Sheng challenged the council's decision by suggesting they allow group tours to the Mainland and see who wins the bet. He emphasized discrepancies between the actual situation in China and the council's warnings, citing personal experiences and acquaintances who recently traveled to China. Chen questioned the effectiveness of the orange travel warning and criticized the council for restricting group tours, highlighting that adults do not need the council to protect them.
