In a year marked by poor performance for emerging-market assets, high-yield dollar bonds have emerged as a standout. Despite the overall underperformance of developing-world assets against Wall Street, some countries like Argentina and Ghana have seen significant gains due to economic measures. Bloomberg's gauge of EM high-yield dollar bonds achieved a 15% gain, making it the top-performing asset class in emerging markets, while many other currencies, especially in Latin America, struggled against a stronger US dollar.
