Reported about 1 year ago
Concerned about traffic issues, four road rights groups visited the Ministry of Transportation to urge the new Minister, Li Meng-Yan, to bring fresh perspectives and policies, listen to the voices of civilian groups, and include them in policy-making. Despite recent efforts by the ministry to prioritize vehicle yield to pedestrians, the first quarter of this year saw an increase of sixteen pedestrian deaths compared to the same period last year. Various groups, including the Taiwan Motorcycle Rights Promotion Association and the Zero Pedestrian Death Promotion Alliance, voiced concerns and demands regarding pedestrian rights, motorcycle rights, and heavy motorcycle rights, advocating for increased pedestrian safety measures and better communication with government agencies.
