During the installation of a large statue of Guanyin in Yilan's Yonghe Temple, a miscalculation in the nylon rope's weight-bearing capacity led to the statue's head falling off. Folklore expert Liao Dayi clarified that this incident was not the deity's intervention but rather due to human error, an unfavorable time, and an unsuitable location. The temple has requested the responsible company to bear all costs and purchase a new deity statue. The expert highlighted that incidents like these are often mistakenly attributed to the deity blocking disasters, emphasizing the need for proper procedures and timing to avoid such accidents in the future.
