As COVID-19 cases rise again, with Taiwan entering the sixth wave of the pandemic and an estimated over 100,000 infections expected by mid-July, there has been a surge in purchases of pandemic supplies. Pharmacies are seeing a significant increase in sales of rapid tests, face masks, alcohol, throat lozenges, and cold medicine. Customers are stocking up on these items due to concerns over the escalating situation, with some even buying up to ten boxes of rapid tests at once.
