Russian explosive manufacturers are circumventing international sanctions by acquiring essential chemical ingredients from fertilizer companies. Contracts have been established with EuroChem and UralChem, which have largely avoided the most stringent sanctions due to their critical role in agriculture. These materials, including nitric acid, are vital for the production of explosives used in the war against Ukraine, raising concerns about the efficacy of existing sanctions targeting Russia's military capabilities.
