Russian Hacker Launches Cyber Attacks Against US and Ukraine, US Department of Justice Offers 10 Million USD Reward

The US Department of Justice announced on June 26th that 22-year-old Russian hacker Amin Timovich Stigal, who cooperated with the Russian military intelligence agency prior to the outbreak of the Ukraine-Russia war, launched cyber attacks against the Ukrainian government before continuing to target Western countries including the US. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and a reward of up to 10 million USD is being offered for information on his whereabouts. Stigal is accused of using the malware 'WhisperGate' to attack dozens of Ukrainian government agencies in January 2022 and has continued to collaborate with Moscow to launch attacks on US and other Western allies supporting Ukraine.
