Although J.J. McCarthy was the No. 10 pick in the NFL Draft for the Minnesota Vikings, Sam Darnold will be leading the team at the start of training camp following a strong performance in OTAs. Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell praised Darnold's progress and signed him to a one-year deal after losing Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons. While McCarthy has the potential to compete for the starting role, Darnold currently holds the edge to lead the team in the upcoming season.
