Samsung's 3nm Process Faces Power and Heat Issues, Galaxy S25 Series Likely to Use Qualcomm Processors in Most Markets

Reported 8 months ago

Business Korea reported that Samsung's 3nm process technology is still facing low yields and issues with power consumption and heat generation in comparison to TSMC's 3nm process, potentially causing delays for the rumored Exynos 2500 processor and leading the 2025 Galaxy S25 series to possibly continue using Qualcomm processor designs in most markets. Despite price increases in 3nm technology compared to 5nm, the demand for high-performance computing like AI is driving close collaborations between processor manufacturers and TSMC. Samsung is adjusting its 3nm process technology while aiming for 2nm production in 2025 to improve processor efficiency. TSMC also plans to start 2nm production in 2025, offering increased efficiency and reduced power consumption compared to current 3nm processes.
