A study published in the journal PNAS reveals that Antarctica's Thwaites Glacier, also known as the 'Doomsday Glacier,' is experiencing destabilization as warm seawater flows beneath it. The high-resolution satellite radar data shows the glacier is being flooded with warm water, making it more vulnerable to melting and contributing significantly to sea level rise. Scientists express concern that if Thwaites collapses, it could elevate sea levels by about two feet, triggering further melting events and increasing sea levels by an estimated 10 feet.
