Scottie Scheffler struggled in the opening round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, shooting over par with a triple bogey, breaking his streak of 41 consecutive rounds at par or better. Charley Hoffman leads the tournament with a 5-under 65, one shot ahead of five players. The difficult conditions, including firm greens and strong winds, led to only 45 players out of 132 breaking par. The renovated course presented challenges for many players, with Scheffler facing additional off-course issues following his arrest before the PGA Championship.
