Shipping Company Sues Vessel Owners Over Cargo Ship Losing Control in Charleston

Reported 7 months ago

Carver Maritime, a South Carolina shipping company in Charleston, has filed a lawsuit against the owners and managers of the MSC Michigan VII container ship for over $500,000 worth of property damage after it lost control on the Cooper River. The vessel, operated by MSC Shipmanagement and owned by Kyveli Oceanway, caused significant damage to Carver Maritime's property and pier, evacuating a nearby beach and bridge until regaining control. The incident occurred three months after a cargo ship crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, leading to casualties.
