Singer from 'Super Star' Accused of Driving Without License and Hit-and-Run, Pleads No Police Report Before Fleeing the Scene

Reported about 1 year ago

On June 8, 2024, singer Zhang Xinjie, known for his participation in 'Super Star Avenue' and 'The Voice of China,' was accused by a man named Zhong of driving without a license, driving under the influence, and fleeing the scene after rear-ending Zhong's car on a highway. Zhang Xinjie admitted to being a public figure and having consumed alcohol, asking Zhong not to report the incident. Zhang left the scene while Zhong was setting up warning signs and could not be breathalyzed post-incident. Zhong demanded compensation but Zhang changed his initial responsibility promise, stating he would discuss with a lawyer. Zhang clarified that he caused the accident while reaching for his phone, denying drunk driving and hit-and-run accusations, but admitting to not having a license due to his previous stay in mainland China.
