The Ministry of the Environment is planning to announce amendments to the details and scope determination standards for environmental impact assessments by the end of June 2024, where small hydropower plants with a capacity of less than 20,000 kilowatts may not require an EIA if they can maintain the river's ecological base flow. Experts are worried that relaxing the EIA standards without comprehensive environmental and ecological assessments for different regions could lead to disputes.
