A man surnamed Qiu in New Taipei City defied a protection order and forced his mother to kneel in front of a temple, wielding a fishing iron hook and threatening to cancel the protection order if she didn't give him money, stating 'Taiwan does not have the death penalty.' Startled witnesses alerted the authorities, leading to Qiu being arrested for violating the Domestic Violence Prevention Act. Despite his threats, his mother refused to comply, leading concerned citizens to intervene and report the incident to the police.
