Subsequently, Chinese maritime police surrounded and boarded Philippine ships in the South China Sea, even using force to seize firearms and supplies. This violent escalation has sparked strong protests from the Philippines and the U.S., with urgent dialogues between the two countries' foreign ministers. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, who visited Malaysia on Wednesday, tried to engage in large-scale economic cooperation and investment to garner support amid the South China Sea debate. Despite Malaysia's support for economic cooperation, they remain firm on peaceful resolutions and adherence to international law on South China Sea issues.
