South Korea's Military Exercises in Response to North Korean Threats

Reported 7 months ago

While South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol is conducting a visit to Central Asia to deepen energy and critical mineral cooperation, South Korea is also engaged in various drills to counter North Korean threats. The drills include air defense exercises by the South Korean Army in the capital region, deployment of new river-crossing equipment, and the showcasing of a domestically produced 3,000-ton submarine. Alongside these preparations, the US Air Force AC-130J gunship aircraft arrived in South Korea for joint exercises with South Korean special forces, seen as a warning to Pyongyang. Additionally, South Korea and the US held a nuclear consultation meeting to address the growing nuclear threat from North Korea, preparing for the annual US-South Korea joint military exercise in August focused on nuclear war scenarios.
