South Korean Lithium Battery Factory Fire: 23 Missing Persons with 20 Bodies Found at Scene Yet to Be Identified

A lithium battery factory in Hwaseong, South Korea, caught fire on June 24, leading to 23 individuals initially reported missing and later increasing to 23, with 20 bodies discovered on site yet to be identified. The fire resulted in one fatality due to cardiac arrest, 6 injuries, and the rest unaccounted for. The factory's second floor employees, predominantly foreign nationals, are among the missing. The fire was extinguished around 3:10 PM, believed to have been caused by a battery explosion in a facility storing 35,000 lithium batteries on the second floor.
