On June 7, 2024, the South Korean Navy departed from Jeju to Hawaii to participate in the 2024 Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), the world's largest multinational maritime exercise involving around 840 personnel from the Navy and Marine Corps. The fleet includes destroyers, landing ships, submarines, patrol aircraft, and amphibious assault vehicles. RIMPAC, led by the US Third Fleet, aims to enhance multinational combat capabilities among allies and ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. This year's 29th edition with the theme 'Unity Partners: Integrated and Ready' will take place from June 26 to August 2, featuring 40 ships, 150 aircraft, and 25,000 personnel from 29 countries in Hawaii waters for live-fire drills, marking a new milestone in participation.
