NASA has announced that SpaceX will build the necessary transport vehicle for the complex 'end-of-life' program of the International Space Station running until 2030. The American space agency signed a contract worth $8.43 billion with SpaceX for this purpose, instead of the previously planned handover to Russian propulsion systems for return operations. The spacecraft, named 'U.S. Deorbit Vehicle,' constructed by SpaceX, will ensure the safe and responsible transition of the space station to a near-Earth orbit post its operation. Upon completion, it will become NASA's property, and the return mission to the International Space Station will be handled by NASA itself.
