Sri Lanka Rainy Season Disaster: Relief Supplies Distributed for Clean Water

On July 3, 2024, at 6:56 PM, a news report from Da Ai TV highlighted the severe flood situation in Sri Lanka due to heavy rains during the rainy season. Eighty percent of the country's regions are affected by the disaster, especially impacting rural residents whose economic conditions were already challenging. Tzu Chi volunteers initiated disaster assessments and relief efforts, providing essential supplies, including clean drinking water, to the affected communities in the flood-stricken areas like Pakada. The volunteers also assisted in purifying water sources and distributing food and aid with assistance from local schools, offering much-needed relief to the flood victims. The assistance provided by Tzu Chi alleviated immediate concerns and will support the communities in their journey towards rebuilding their homes and lives.
