Starting from July 1st, 2024, Taipei City, New Taipei City, and Taoyuan City will jointly implement the YouBike violation points system to enhance safety awareness among users and promote a culture of prioritizing pedestrians. Users will receive points for violations such as riding on sidewalks, running red lights, riding against traffic, not yielding to pedestrians, using phones while riding, carrying passengers, etc. Accumulating 3 points results in a 14-day suspension, 7 points for a year, and 2 years for riding under the influence or drugs. Users can check their points via the official YouBike app. The initiative aims to create a safer and more respectful cycling environment.
