In Kaohsiung, Taiwan, a woman unexpectedly handed 4 oranges to a beverage store clerk, which later turned out to contain 12,000 yuan in cash. The woman claimed the money was for purchasing medicine and left without taking it back. Folklore expert Liao Dayi suggested that this act may be a curse intended to transfer misfortune. The incident occurred on the summer solstice, with the clerk eventually seeking help from the police. Liao warned against accepting such gifts and advised donating them to religious institutions or handing them over to the authorities.
