A woman known as Xiao Hua went to a temple twice last July, displaying photos of a stranger named Xiao Min on her phone and claiming Min was a mistress of someone. Despite not knowing each other, Xiao Min sued Xiao Hua for defamation. Xiao Hua initially agreed to only pay 5,000 CNY, but the Yilan court ruled for her to compensate Min with 30,000 CNY. The case can still be appealed. The court found Xiao Hua's actions damaged Min's reputation, and considering both parties' financial situations, ordered the higher compensation amount.
