Stifel, Nicolaus & Co strategist Barry Bannister suggests that the S&P 500 index may increase by nearly 10% this year due to ongoing market frenzy, possibly reaching 6,000 points by the end of 2024 before dropping around 20% to 4,800 points around mid-2026. Bannister warns that the current fervor among investors could lead to a bubble burst, with a faster correction in risk assets like stocks. His year-end target for the S&P 500 index is 4,750 points, indicating a potential downside of approximately 13% from current levels.
