The British newspaper The Guardian reported on June 17, 2024, that Sudan is facing the most severe famine crisis in 40 years due to the government army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) limiting food supplies as a weapon in the ongoing civil war. The situation has resulted in 14,000 casualties and over 10 million people displaced. The US has announced a $315 million humanitarian aid package for Sudan, but the delivery of aid remains a challenge.
