During summer postpartum, women often have poor appetite and concerns about overheating, making it challenging to find the right foods for replenishing energy without causing internal heat buildup. Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner Zhou Zonghan suggests adjusting cooking methods and incorporating certain balanced Chinese herbs to help postpartum mothers replenish vitality without causing heatiness. Recommendations include using warm-cooked foods like sesame oil chicken and nourishing soups and teas made with yam, black beans, Eucommia bark, and other ingredients, avoiding cold foods, and utilizing TCM teas like rose barley jujube tea to alleviate postpartum depression. It is also advised to keep the environment well-ventilated and maintain a comfortable temperature during postpartum to prevent overheating and promote recovery.
