Defending champion Iga Swiatek saved a match point to defeat Naomi Osaka in a thrilling second-round match at the French Open, avoiding her earliest exit at the tournament. Swiatek fought back to win 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 in a tense encounter under the Court Philippe Chatrier roof. Osaka, who recently returned to the sport after having a daughter, pushed Swiatek but ultimately couldn't convert her chances. Swiatek's victory preserves her bid to become only the third woman in the Open era to win three consecutive French Open titles.
