Summer has arrived, attracting crowds to swim and cool off in pools. Regarding concerns about contracting HPV while swimming, urologist Dai Ding-en noted that HPV, the virus causing genital warts, is primarily transmitted through sexual contact, making the risk of getting infected at swimming pools or public hot springs quite low. Dai emphasized that though many carry the HPV virus, it may only lead to infection in cases of wounds or weakened immune systems. To minimize infection risks, maintaining good personal hygiene, boosting immunity, getting vaccinated against HPV, and protecting wounds are essential precautions recommended by Dai.
