According to a report by 'Army Recognition' on July 5th, the Swiss RUAG company has been approved by the Swiss government to assemble 4 F-35A fighter jets purchased by Switzerland in the future. This initiative aims to strengthen Switzerland's logistics and defense capabilities independently. The project, named 'RIGI,' involves creating the complete logistics capabilities required for the full lifespan of the F-35A with technical support from the manufacturer Lockheed Martin and will be verified through testing in Italy. This move not only ensures the Swiss Air Force's F-35 logistical needs but also potentially becomes a critical support point for operating F-35 fleets in European countries. Switzerland is set to purchase a total of 36 F-35A jets, replacing their aging F-5 and F/A-18 aircraft from 2027 to 2030, although the timeline for RUAG to start assembling the 4 F-35A jets is currently unclear.
