Shanghai Taiwan Affairs Office Director Zhong Xiaomin recently visited Taipei, meeting with Mayor Chiang Wan-an in a friendly atmosphere as preparations for the upcoming Shanghai-Taipei Forum in July progress. Taipei City Councilors expressed varying opinions on the visit, with one councilor urging equal dignity in hosting mainland officials, while another called for transparency in the progress of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) signed between the two cities in recent years. Overall, there is hope for improved cross-strait relations as high-level exchanges continue.
