In Taipei's Wanhua District, a 68-year-old man surnamed Chen brutally murdered a 78-year-old landlord surnamed Yan. The victim, who was blind and lived away from home, had rented a housing unit to the low-income Chen as an act of charity. The victim's son expressed shock at the murder, stating his father had a surreal sense of helping others despite his sight disability. The victim, despite his blindness, was actively involved in helping the underprivileged apply for subsidies and rent out his property to those in need.
