In Taipei, another incident of a passenger wielding a knife occurred on the Banqiao Line today, with a 38-year-old man spotted sharpening a knife in a coach causing panic among passengers. The man, surnamed Wang, was reported by passengers and apprehended by MRT police without causing any injuries. Wang claimed he was merely sharpening the knife and not brandishing it, but he was still taken into custody under the Social Order Maintenance Act. Taipei MRT emphasized the importance of passenger safety and urged against carrying dangerous items like knives while commuting.
