Taipei Pet Restaurant Accused of Dog Overheating Due to Air Conditioner Saving Electricity, Owner Denies Blaming Dog Hair Blocking AC Vents

Reported about 1 year ago

A pet restaurant in Beitun District, Taipei City, was reported to have dogs suffering from heatstroke due to insufficiently cold air conditioning possibly to save on electricity. After receiving complaints, the Animal Protection Department will inspect the restaurant, and if any illegal activities are found, they will be fined accordingly. The owner defended themselves by claiming that the air conditioner was not cold because the vents were blocked by dog hair but have since cleaned the vents. Despite accusations, they stated that the dogs' illnesses were due to health issues and not heatstroke. The Animal Protection Department also responded to reports of mistreatment of animals on the premises, stating that owners are required to provide necessary medical care under Animal Protection regulations or face fines if not complied with.
