Taipei Police Official Contracts Pneumococcal Infection, Urgent Intervention and Warning for High-Risk Individuals

Taipei City Police Department's Zhongzheng Substation Vice Chief Lin Yuekuan (52 years old) was urgently hospitalized due to acute asthma attack caused by a positive test for pneumococcus bacteria. Doctors warned that elderly individuals are at high risk, with severe symptoms possibly leading to sepsis and a high risk of death. The Bureau of Infectious Diseases also recommended pneumococcal vaccination to reduce the chances of infection and related complications and death, especially for infants and older adults.
