Taipei Private Dongshan High School's Junior High Department Over-admitted 142 Students, Could Face Fine of Up to 1.5 Million NTD and Possible Suspension of Admissions

Reported 11 months ago

On June 22, 2024, Taipei's private Dongshan High School's junior high department admitted 142 more students than allowed, leaving these students potentially without a junior high to attend. The school apologized for the error, promised refunds and compensation, while the Taipei City Education Bureau stated they will penalize the school heavily, including fines of up to 1.5 million NTD and the possibility of reducing admissions or suspending them. This incident has caused anger among parents as students had already paid fees and prepared for school, only to be told to expect refunds due to over-admission mistakes by the school.
