On the anniversary of eradicating African swine fever across Taiwan, the Ministry of Agriculture announces its application to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH) to be recognized as a 'non-epidemic country' for the disease. Taiwan's successful control of the disease has led to the cessation of vaccination, marking a significant milestone for the pig farming industry and paving the way for international trade. This achievement comes after Taiwan was recognized as a 'non-epidemic zone' for foot-and-mouth disease, following a major outbreak in 1997.
