According to a report from China Times, the Taiwanese Army is refurbishing its M60A3 tanks to extend their service life by purchasing 460 new diesel engines from RENK America and upgrading the fire control and turret control systems. In addition, they have decided to procure new 105mm tank guns from the Army's 202nd Arsenal. The refurbishment project, costing around 836 million New Taiwan Dollars, is expected to be completed by the end of 2028. The 202nd Arsenal has demonstrated expertise in producing 105mm tank guns, making them a suitable choice for the M60A3 tank barrel refurbishment.
