A Taiwanese fishing boat, Da Jin Man 88, was forcibly inspected by Chinese coast guard ships and six crew members were taken to Fujian, triggering a rapid response from the Taiwan Coast Guard with no success. The seizure point was confirmed to be beyond Taiwan Coast Guard radar range, inside Mainland waters near Jinjiang Town, well within their sovereign waters. diplomatic channels will be used to resolve the issue as the Coast Guard urges the Mainland to release the detainees and the boat. This incident is not an isolated one, as in the past, 17 Taiwanese fishing boats have been inspected and seized by Mainland authorities during off-season fishing periods, 11 of which were released after paying fines and 6 were handled by Taiwanese authorities. This latest incident took place close to Jinjiang, just 5.4 nautical miles away.
