The Mainland Affairs Council (MAC) of Taiwan recently raised the travel alert for visiting China from 'Yellow' to 'Orange' due to multiple incidents of Taiwanese citizens being illegally detained or interrogated. Asked if the alert might turn 'Red' in the future, Taiwanese Premier Su Tseng-chang did not deny the possibility, stating that it depends on China's behavior. MAC announced the upgrade in response to concerns for personal safety, following a notice from Chinese authorities threatening individuals who support Taiwan's independence. Discussions on further changes to the alert level hinge on China's actions, according to the Premier.
